I have a fun tutorial today
that I think you are gonna LOVE cuz it is cute and EASY!
Do you have some nightstands, a dresser or a desk
that has drawers that look like this?
boring huh?!
and ugly :(
and ugly :(
The old oak furniture is so fun to redo
its is all the craze right now
but the insides are always forgotten
but the insides are always forgotten
and I just feel like they need a little somethin somethin
or it just doesn't look finished to me
Well I had a fun idea to spruce up my nightstand drawers
so come a long with me
I promise you will love them when we are done
and will go get your supplies to do your own
and will go get your supplies to do your own
The very first thing you want to do is clean
I just wiped them out
then washed them with a wet rag
Then after it dried
I went over it with a Clorox wipe
and then we are ready to go
Supplies you will need:
-Paper (any color, any pattern, whatever look you are going for)
This is where you get to make it your own
I decided on brown and white houndstooth paper
I got it from Hobby lobby and used about 15 sheets of 12X12
You could also use wrapping paper but I couldn't find one I wanted
-Mod Podge
-Sponge brushes
-Scissors or paper cutter or both
(the paper cutter is nice to get the perfect crisp straight lines
Lets look at that awesome paper I chose again :)
It is perfect and just what I was going for
I love it against my yellow
sshhh I just have you a hint and sneak peak into my
nightstand redo...you will kinda notice it in the pics
But don't look too close yet
next week you will see the awesome transformation
This is what I did:
First I measured the paper up against all the edges marked them
and cut them
some I had to piece together but luckily with patterns you can't even tell
Next I took the mod podge and put them all up around the edges
then I glued the paper to the main bottom part of the draw
using the mod podge
You want to make sure you don't have bubbles in the paper
you want it to be smooth
so to do this... after I glued the paper down
I took a card (like a credit card or scrapper) and ran it along the paper
making it smooth and removing all bubbles
Then you want to let that sit and dry
I let it sit over night with all the paper on it
The next day I went over top of the
paper with mod podge to give it
that smooth glossy finish
I wanted to do this to protect the paper
I feel like nightstands get a lot of use
so it will probably need some protecting
and also so it is easy to clean and dust
This is keep it looking nice
I did one coat let it completely dry and then did a second coat
And viola
Isn't it pretty?!
Let's be reminded of the before and after shall we?!
Yes please
Doesn't it look like one billion times better? :)
and it is so easy
I promise you will love it
ahh it is so cute
sometimes I just open my drawers
just to see how cute it is inside
And my hubby doesn't even mind having
cute nightstands inside
Its like a hidden surprise :)
