WINTER letters

Do you ever feel like your house looks so bare after all the sparkles, trees, and wreaths of the Christmas season? I do and I wanted to change that. I mean I do like getting my house back to normal, have a  little more space and simplify a bit, but I also miss some of the glitter and glam so I am going to be sharing with you some of my winter decor ideas that you can put up through the month of January. I wanted some cute winter decor instead of just jumping right into Valentines Day. I have some really cute Ideas for that month too but I am going to wait until February to put that up. One month and Holiday at a time. When I think winter decor I think blues, whites, silvers, golds and glitter. So to start off sharing my winter craft and decor ideas I am going to show you how I made my cute and fun WINTER wall letters. They are so simple and fun to make. And the best part is you can personalize them making them whatever fonts, colors, and using what ever embellishments you want. I have some of these for every season but my winter ones are my very favorite.

Supplies I used:
-Wood Letters (3 different sizes alternating sizes and styles) I got them at Roberts when they were still open. But you can also find them at Hobby lobby, Michaels or JoAnnes
-craft paint- I used dark blue, light blue and white
-Scrapbook paper- I used a mix of pattern and plain
-glue gun and glue
-sand paper
-scissors
-Mod podge
-sponge brush
-craft snow in a can- I got mine at Michaels by the glue and pod modge
-any embellishments you want to use- I used paper, vinyl, flowers, ribbons, and buttons
-Command strips

What I did:

First I laid out my paper and decided what color/pattern I wanted to use on each letter. Then I painted the letters the color of the paper that I was going to be using. W-dark blue I-white N- light blue T-Dark blue E-white and R-light blue

After the paint dried I traced the letters and cut them out. Then I mod podged the paper to the wood letters. When it was completely dry I mod podged over the top and let that dry. Make sure you let it dry before or put the layer on top or it will bubble. I am speaking from experience.

Now all you have left is the fun part the embellishing of each of the letters. On the W I simply just hot glued a BIG white flower on the top left corner of the letter.

I did the I a little bit different instead of doing paper I did the snow in a can on top of the letter. To give it a wintery snowy look. It turned out just like I wanted it to. You just take a sponge brush and dab it into the can of the snow in a can and dab it all over the letter (as little or as much as you want) l let is fry completely and it looks just like snow. Then I took some scraps of the light blue paper, tied it in a knot fanned out the edges and hot glued it right on top of the letter
The N I just simply added some vinyl snowflakes down the middle going from the largest to the smallest and then mod podged over the top so the vinyl wouldn't come off

The T I hot glued some glittery silver buttons down the edge

The E I used some super cute glitter paper and then some variety of blue ribbons and tied them to the top. And lastly the R I added a little blue flower and hot glued a silver button in the middle.

And you are all done you have a cute winter sign you can put on your mantel, on the wall or on top of a sofa table. I put mine on the wall in my kitchen above my sink it was the perfect space for it this winter and the nice thing is you can change up where you put them each winter. I hung them up with command strips (which are my favorite) because they don't damage your wall and they are so simple to use while keeping your letters perfectly straight.
