DIY Cupcake Stand

Aren't you just dying over these
They are so CUTE!

Michelle@ A Little Tipsy

I had the opportunity to go to Breathing Space, my first blogging retreat,
a couple of weekends ago (post about retreat coming soon)
It was a lot of fun and I learned quite a bit from the classes
but most of all it was fun hanging out with my mom
and getting to know my other roommates
Kaysi, Michelle, Staci and Amanda
I LOVE all their blogs and learned a lot from our Friday night chat
Thanks ladies :)

The first night we had a fun Stepford Wives themed dinner
(so fun to dress up)
after the dinner, all my roommates and I headed off to
Harmons to get some snacks for the night and the next day
as we were walking around we came across these beauties
Don't you love the polka dots
We could not pass these up
so we had a fun plan to all make cupcake stands out of them
in different colors, in our own creative way
and blog about them linking to each others post
So make sure to click over to all the blogs and
check out our different takes on them
(links to all of them above)

Materials I used:
-Polka dot plates (large, small and bowl) from Harmons in RED
-dollar store candle sticks (I had in my craft stash)
-Spray paint
-E6000 glue
-Goo Gone

What I did:
1. First things first I wanted my candle sticks to show off a pop of color
and what better color than YELLOW
(I know I am a bit obsessed)
 so I spray painted them
easy peasy

2. Next you are going to need your E6000
if you don't have any of this GET SOME
it is awesome I use it for so many projects
you can get it at any craft store

3. I measured and found the middle of my large plate
spread some E6000 glue on the bottom of my first candle stick
and pressed it down on the plate

4. I then measured the middle of my smaller plate
spread E6000 on the top of the first candle stick and
put the smaller plate on top where I marked the middle
so that it is all centered

5. Then I repeated steps 3 and 4 to add the second candle stick and the
bowl on the top of the stand

see that goo that the glue left behind?

6. no worries next I just got out my trusty
Goo Gone (another must have supply)
and a cloth and got rid of all the extra glue that oozed out

Now it looks clean and there is no goo to be seen
:)

There it is all done and ready to be used
Isn't it pretty!
I can't wait to use it
I have thought of so really cool ways to use this
but was not able to get pictures of them yet
so I will just tell them to you and you can try them out yourselves

1. You can of course use them for cupcakes and little treats at the top
2. Fruit with Fruit dip in the bowl
3. Veggies with ranch dip in the bowl
4. or my hubbies favorite chips with salsa or guacamole in the bowl for dipping

Top: Kaysi, Leanne (mom), Me Bottom: Amanda, Staci, Michelle

And just to see how fun we are
Here we are together at the Stepford Wives Dinner
 so SASSY!
Thank you ladies for making my first blogging get together
such a good experience

  8. Wow! So fun! How do you wash them? By hand, or would they hold up in the top rack of the dishwasher??

  15. Great Idea...I LOVE it!

I would guess this has to be hand washed. Will the glue
stay? Never used that glue before...Thanks
