I love pillows and have been wanting to make one for my love seat
to bring in some more yellow into my living room that I am
making over a little bit
I was at target and found a place mat that was the perfect pattern and color
that I was looking for and the best part is it was only $3
and I knew just how to transform this into a pillow easily
First you will need a fabric place mat that has been sewn together
or you can get two and sew them together
but in this case I only needed to use one place mat which
was awesome and cheaper
First you are going to unpick just one side of your place mat
Warning I bought a place mat that has pipping so it was a little
trickier than one with just a normal stitch and no pipping
but it was still super quick and easy
You are going to just unpick one side and leave all the other sides
sewn together like so
Next you will need a bag of stuffing
I used about 3/4 of this bag that I got for only $3
Stuff until the desired fullness
I wanted mine really full
I probably could have gotten away with just using half
of the bag but I liked the fuller look better
Once it is all stuffed you are going to pin the pillow back together
and sew it
Because mine had pipping I pinned and sewed the inside then
I pinned the pipping and sewing that
And here you have a super easy pillow
and all I spent was $6
and I can say I made it :)
Don't you love that
If you already have batting you can get away with it costing even less :)
And there she is in her new home
right on my love seat sandwiched between two blue pillows
Love :)
Sorry about the bad lighting we live in a basement apartment
so I am not able to get the best pictures but you get the idea

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'm thinking a trip to Pier One might be on the agenda (they have great placemats).
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about how you sewed everything back together though? Piping typically has to be encased within the seam, so how did you manage to do that? Thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing at Thursday's Temptation Whit!! I love, love, love your cute pillow and wanted to let you know I am featuring it at the link party!
