Burg Pediatric Dentistry- Vine Street Office

My little Maddux had his first dentist appointment last week and I was really nervous to take him. First of all big confession he is 3.5 and we hadn't taken him yet...ooops mother fail any way I really wanted to find a place that would not over whelm him too much. He is a pretty nervous kids, he doesn't love new things and gets very anxious. Then I heard about Burg Pediatric Dentistry and I was so excited they had a location right by us. Since these dentists only work with children I knew they would have seen it all so it put me as him mom at ease just knowing that, but I still was a little nervous on our drive there.

Any nervousness I still had completely went away when I walked through the door. Oh my goodness you guys this place was perfect, especially for my superhero loving little 3 year old. We walked in and there were super hero posters everywhere, the waiting room was very colorful. There were fun toys and a movie going while you waited your turn. Once it was your little ones turn they called you up and give them a name tag and of course it is all decked out in super hero goodness so they feel very special. Also your first time they give them a super hero mask and cape! What? How cool is that. Maddux was so excited and soaking it all up. The receptionists were adorable and very helpful as well.

Once he had the name tag on and his super hero {super molar} get up on they meet their dental assistant and hygienist and he got to pick out what they were going to wear, while they took care of him,  from a box of props. He had one of them wear antennas and the other one minnie mouse ears. He thought that was pretty awesome. As soon as their props were on they all got their airplane arms out and flew down the hallways until they got to his little chair and special room. I wanted to cry watching this because it was so darling and they were so amazing with my little guy. Yes, I am one of those crazy moms.

Once they were in the room they first sat down and had a little tooth brushing lesson. They had this adorable dragon and a little toothbrush and together they practice the circular motion of brushing teeth. We still brush Maddux's teeth for him so this was good for him because it got him excited to try to do it himself with just a little help.

Next up were the xrays or "pictures" of the teeth. They did such a great job of explaining everything they were going to do before they did anything. That really put Maddux at ease and he really didn't seem nervous at all.

He thought the Xray machine was an awesome robot and of course when he got to actually see the developed film he was amazed. I thought it was really cool to see his Xrays because it showed where all of his permanent teeth were and how they were aligned.

Next up was teeth cleaning "and counting teeth" to get him comfortable before all the tools went into his mouth.  Plus there was a TV on the ceiling so when he laid down he could watch the show and get his mind off the tools and hands all up in his business.

Again with the cleaning she told him everything she was doing. First she "tickled" his teeth while she cleaned them and made them sparkly.

Then she taught him how to do the suction which he thought was funny. He giggle after every time.

While we waited for the Dentist to come in they spoiled us with goodie bags for not only Maddux but also for my little Holden. Full of of character toothbrush, children's tooth past, floss and floss picks along with some rubber wrist bands, stickers and a magnet to go on our fridge. Also while we waited there was no time wasted we scheduled Maddux's next appointment and Holden's first appointment.

Once Dr. Christensen came in Maddux instantly took to him. I don't know if it is because he was a boy or just because he was so friendly and amazing with kids but he thought he was really cool.

He came in check his teeth, looked at his structure, his little chipped tooth, and then checked for any cavities or gum problems. And I am a proud mama to say that he is now in the Burg Pediatric Dentistry NO CAVITY club!

After his appointment he was such a good boy that they let him and Holden pick a little toy. They were so spoiled there it was way more of a party then a dentist appointment.I can't even tell you as a mom how amazing of an experience this was. No fits, no crying, no clinging, only smiles, fun, flying, super hero masks, learning and prizes, while giving them the best dental care and check up ever.

  1. Teaching your child to take care of their teeth may seem like a daunting task at first. Especially when they are young and energetic. The benefits of teaching great dental care habits can lead to a life of hassle free dentist visits for them.
