Homemade Chick-fil-A nuggets

I know!
I could hardly believe it either
You can make Chick-fli-A nuggets
whenever you want at home for cheaper
and they taste just as yummy

See!
I made them for dinner last week and
Hubby thought I just went and bought them
and set them on a plate until
he saw the mess and a pan full of oil :)
That is how close they are to the original

Here are the ingredients
-8 chicken tenderloin strips boneless and skinless
(you can use full breast but I buy the tenderloins and they are easier
for the nuggets)
-1 cup milk
-i egg
-1 1/4 cups flour
-5 TBSP powdered sugar
-2 tsp salt
-1 tsp pepper
-1/2 tsp chili powder
-Canola oil for frying

(this makes about 30-40 nuggets)

Here is what you want to do:

First off you want to thaw your chicken
and then cut each tenderloin strip into 4-5 pieces
(this is a perfect size for the nuggets)

In a small bowl whisk together your egg and
1 Cup of milk
Place your cut chicken pieces in the bowl
cover the bowl and set in the fridge to marinate
for at least 1 hour
(I did mine for 2 hours and that was perfect)

When your chicken is done marinating
It is time to make your breading
-In a large plastic bag combine
the flour, powdered sugar, salt, pepper and
chili powder
-Shake the bag mixing it all together
-Put your chicken pieces in the bag of breading
(leaving all the liquid in the bowl)
-Shake the bag coating all the chicken

-put enough oil in your pan or wok to be able to cover the chicken
-I let it heat up on medium/high heat until it started bubbling a little
and then I knew it was ready
you could also drip a few drops of water in it to see if it bubbles
-Then you are going to place 6-8 breaded chicken pieces in the oil at a time
(you don't want to do any more than that or they won't cook evenly)
-Leave them in the oil for 3 minutes
-Take them out and put them on a plate with a paper towel
to soak up the extra oil
-Then do your next batch and repeat until they are all fried

And they should look a little somethin like this
and just taste like amazingness

Of course I paired it with some BBQ sauce and honey for dipping
and some cole slaw
since that is my fav combo at Chick-fli-A

I promise you will not be disappointed
and they are so EASY not to mention
I had all of the ingredients just laying around my house
I didn't have to buy anything for this recipe
which is always a bonus

They were a HUGE hit in this house
I will be making these at least once a month I am sure

  5. I am so terrified of frying anything. I feel like I'm going to burn my house down or something. But these look fantastic. And now I'm craving Chickfila for lunch...

  9. How can these be made to be frozen and pulled out in batches?

  10. The only thing I can think off to make them frozen. It to make them just as I said and then freeze them and then when you want them they will already be cooked so you can just stick them in the oven until they are warm and crispy. I hope that is helpful
