Holiday Plaques {The Wood Connection}

I love how the wood connections allows you to let your creativity sour. The raw wood that you get to make your own, and bring your creativity into your home is so fun. I am happy every time I go and leave with much more than I planned on. My kids also love it and love coming home with a little craft for themselves to bring home and work on with mommy.

I loved my Valentines plaque so much that I created from the Wood Connection goodies that I just had to share with you my St. Patricks and Easter versions. They are so simple, easy to put together, cheap, and so fun to be able to put up during the holidays on your mantel, the wall or a little side table. All three versions I used the same technique and the supplies are from the Wood Connection.

Supplies Needed

-Small Wooden Plaque
-Small character wood pieces
-Paint
-Paint brushes
-Glitter
-Wood glue
-Sand block
-vinyl
-painters tape

***All of these items can be found and were purchased at the WOOD CONNECTION

What I did
For the St. Patricks plaque First I just painted the plaque gold. Then once it was dry I placed the vinyl on the wood plaque and painted over it with the ivory white.  I did two coats letting it dry completely between each coat and that was plenty of coverage.

Then Once the white was dry I peeled off the vinyl so that you could see the gold "Lucky" underneath.

On the easter plaque I simply painted the whole thing a pale yellow. I did two coats letting it dry completely between each coat. Then once it was dry I taped off stripes with painters tape and painted the middle of the plaque a light blue. Two coats letting it dry completely between each coat and then once dry peeling off the painters tape

Then on both the plaques once all the paint was dry I sanded down the edges to make it look a little worn. I feel like this makes it look more finished.

Next it was time to paint the little wood character pieces. For the pot of gold I simply painted the top gold and the bottom black, then once it was dry I sanded down the edges and then painted on wood glue and put on the glitter. For the clover I painted it green and added glitter and she horseshoe is gold with glitter.  Once those were all dry I glued them to the plaque with wood glue and your all done.

With the easter one I did an egg that I plainted pink and added glitter, a bunny just white and sanded down and a carrot with orange and green glitter for the top. Attached with wood glue.

This was my valentines version I created last month. You can find the tutorial for this one HERE.

All three and I am sure I will keep on with this tradition and make one for every season and holiday I am excited to make more. Thank you to The wood connection for having me and providing me with these awesome products. Now go and get your craft on!!!

All you need is LOVE, Love. Love is all you need

Here is another fun Last minute Valentine project that can be used all year round in your home depending on where you put it and what colors you choose to use. If you are wanting it to just be for Valentines day red and black are really cool (I did one for my friend in these colors and it was really pretty), if you are wanting it for Valentines and your home later you can use more neutral colors like I did here with the grey and ivory, and if you are wanting it for your living room or master bedroom you can use the colors that coordinate with that room in your home. I made mine to be able to use with my valentine decor and also to be able to put in my home at different times of the year. This is another really easy project it takes a little time just because of the time it takes for the paint to dry. I was able to complete this project during nap time one day so it still doesn't take too long and while the paint is drying you can work on other things.

Materials needed

-Wood pallet {I got mine at the wood connection but you can also make your own- tutorial coming soon)
-Heart and love vinyl (wood connection or you can cut your own if you have a machine)
-Craft paint
-paint brushes
-sand  block
-squeegy
-ribbon (optional)

***All of these items can be found and were purchased at the WOOD CONNECTION
This is not a sponsored post I just freaking love that place and I know you will too

How I made it

I started out by painting the pallet the charcoal grey color. This is going to be the color you want your heart and love to be. I painted two coats letting it dry between each coat.

Once the paint is fully dry you are going to apply the vinyl to the pallet where ever you want it to go.

Next I painted the ivory right over the top of the vinyl. This is going to be the main color of your project. I painted three coats {since it was a light color covering over a dark color) letting it dry between each coat.

Once the paint was all dry I simple removed all the vinyl and then you will have the heart and love as the grey color from underneath.

Once everything was dry I sanded down all the edges and the surfaces to make it look a little worn and antique. When it comes to painting projects I love to distress them up a little bit.

I love the colors and how I can use this all year round. I think it is important to celebrate love all year round, every day to our husbands, kids, family and friends. I just love the word LOVE that has so much meaning behind it.

I hope you all have a fun Valentines day tomorrow and make sure to tell all those loved ones how much they mean to you. All you need is LOVE,  LOVE is all you need.

Two hearts beat as One {Valentine plaque}

I know I  know Valentines day is in 2 days so I am a little behind in posting this super cute plaque. But...I still wanted to share it because A. it is too cute not to share B. It is never too late to make a cute project for your own home or for a neighbor I mean come on we keep V-day decor up the whole month of February anyway...right? or is that just me? and C. because I think this is a decor piece that does not just have to be for valentines day it is cute enough and simple enough to keep up all year I think this would be so cute in a master bedroom in fact that is where this one is going as soon as February is over. It would also be cute on a gallery wall surrounded by wedding and family photos. Ok so now that I have convinced you to make this while Valentines day being two days away let me show you how fast and easy it really is.

Supplies Needed

-Wood plaque
-2 small wooden hearts
-1 wooden arrow
-Ivory, Metallic gold and Coral craft paint
-Sand paper or block
-paint brush
-wood glue
-painters tape

***All of these items can be found and were purchased at the WOOD CONNECTION
This is not a sponsored post I just freaking love that place and I know you will too

How I Made it

First I just painted the plaque the ivory white. I did two coats, letting it dry completely between each coat and that was plenty of coverage

While the plaque was drying I painted the hearts Coral and the arrow metallic gold. I also did two coats on all the small pieces.

Then I decided the white was too plain for me and it needed a little something more so I used painters tape to tape off a stripe and painted it a charcoal grey..painting two coats and then removing the tape.

Once everything was dry I sanded down all the edges and the surfaces to make it look a little worn and antique. When it comes to painting projects I love to distress them up a little bit.

Lastly I used the wood glue to attach the hearts and arrows on the plaque just in the middle of the grey stripe. And you are done. Seriously it is so easy and fast.

I love how it turned out and I know you would love it in your home too. Looking for a fun gift to give someone you can easily whip up two or three at the same time.

I just want to take a second to thank all of my amazing followers and readers. Thank you for sticky by me and for your support it means the world right now as I am trying to get back in the swing of things in this blogging world that I have missed so dearly. Thank you for being patient and for keeping me going. I hope that I am able to inspire or help just one of you. Have a beautiful Valentines day!
