Circus Party Photo Booth Goodness {The Wood Connection & Giveaway}

***Disclosure: This is a sponsored post written by me on behave of The Wood Connection as always all the opinions are 100% my own

Today I am going to be sharing a really fun photo booth idea for a birthday party or backyard get together. It is August which around here means a Birthday is coming up and not just any birthday, but my baby's first birthday. How did that happen? How is he almost one already. I thought up a fun circus theme and got right to thinking what decor and fun things we could do at the party. I knew the wood connection would be just the place to get started. I found a whole bunch for decor items and photo booth goodness that is going to be perfect for his party just this last weekend. So lets see what I was able to come up with for a circus theme shall we...

{Photo Booth Items}
-Wooden mustache, lips, glasses, hat, and dowels- Wood connection
-Paint
-Sand paper
-Hot glue and glue gun

{How I made it}

First, lets start with the banner. You are going to paint the edges of each piece you don't need to paint the top because it will be covered by paper, and you don't need to paint the back because no one will see the back.

Next, you will mod podge your paper on.

Make sure to let it dry completely and once it has sat for a couple hours then you can mod podge over the top of the paper. I like to do this so that the paper on the banners don't get ruined. The reason you wait to do the layer on top of the paper is because if it isn't dry, your paper will bubble.

Once your top layer is dry then you are going to take your sand paper and you are going to sand around the edges of the banner piece and this will sand off all the extra paper just leaving the part that is glued to the piece. This gives you the perfect fit, without all the tracing and cutting.

Now it is time to poke the holes through the paper. I used a little vinyl tool I have but you could just used a pin. Poke it through the hole in the wood through the paper moving the pin around to get the full circle into the paper.

Then you are going to string your twine through all the holes connecting the banner together. At each banner piece I tied a double knot to keep the banner all in place so each piece wasn't sliding around.

Now for the letters, I simply painted two coats of cream paint and sanded the edges.

Once the letters are dry I hot glued each one onto its wood banner piece and you are done with your adorable circus banner. This can be for the decor above the food table, or you can use it as part of the photo booth. Also after the party I am going to use this as decor in my little boys room, because lets face it it is always a circus with two little boys in the house.

After the banner I worked on all the photo booth pieces. I just painted each of them the color that I wanted, it took two coats to cover them completely and then I sanded down the edges. Next I glued the dowel in the pre-drilled hole that was at the bottom of each of the mustache, hat, lips and glasses. Isn't that so fun that they have these at the wood connection?! It was just what I wanted. What I like about these wood ones apposed to the paper photo booth props is that they last. After the party I am going to put these in the boys play room with all of their dress up stuff. How fun right!

They even have paper straws at the wood connection which is great for any party or dinner get together along with some crafting. You can see what else I have done with paper straws HERE and HERE. For the photo booth I simply attached some chalkboard vinyl, that I had cut into a cute shape, to the straw with some tape on the back. Also for the party I am going to use them for drinks. I added a washi tape flag that the guests can put their names on so they can keep track of their drink.

The elephants I simple painted, sanded and hot glued the ears on. I did them in some fun circus colors and these will also be used as bedroom decor after the party. I think that it is smart to use things for parties that you can also use later. I feel better about spending the money if it is getting multiple uses and that is what is so great about the wood connections products is they last so long.

Now lets see some tester photo booth pics shall we....

There is no way this little babe is going to be one in a week and a half....they grow up too fast.
